In the last module, we explored the approach to Polyarthritis, and how to diagnose Rheumatoid Arthritis, differentiating it from the other common causes of multiple joint pain. We also discussed the immunological mechanisms that led to the inflammatory cascade, as well as the underlying biomechanical principles responsible for the skeletal deformities associated with Rheumatoid Arthritis.

In Module 2, we shall discuss the treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis, including aspects of rehabilitation, and then we shall move on to a group of autoimmune disorders affecting the Spine as well as peripheral joints, namely the Spondyloarthritides. We shall explore their various types, presentations, diagnosis and management, including as before, the Rehabilitative aspects.

Key takeaways

    • Idea of the Drugs used in treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis & Spondyloarthropathies
    • Presentation, diagnosis and underlying mechanisms responsible for the symptoms of SpA's
    • Idea of Rehabilitation of RA & SpA's, and why it should be started early & alongside the DMARDs

    FAQs

What topics will be covered in this webinar?

This webinar will cover the treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA), including rehabilitation aspects, and then move on to discuss Spondyloarthritides (SpA), exploring their various types, presentations, diagnosis, management, and rehabilitation.

What is the focus of this module compared to the previous one?

The previous module focused on the approach to polyarthritis, diagnosing RA, differentiating it from other causes of joint pain, immunological mechanisms, and biomechanical principles of skeletal deformities in RA. This module focuses on the treatment of RA, including rehabilitation, and then expands to cover SpA.

What are the key takeaways participants can expect?

Participants will gain an understanding of the drugs used in treating RA and SpA, the presentation, diagnosis, and underlying mechanisms of SpA symptoms, and the importance of early rehabilitation in RA and SpA, alongside DMARDs.

    What are Spondyloarthritides (SpA)?

SpA are a group of autoimmune disorders that affect the spine and peripheral joints. The webinar will explore the various types of SpA, how they present, how they are diagnosed, and how they are managed, including rehabilitation.

Why is rehabilitation emphasized in the context of RA and SpA?

The webinar highlights the importance of early and concurrent rehabilitation alongside DMARDs (Disease-Modifying Antirheumatic Drugs) in the treatment of RA and SpA. It will likely explain the benefits of rehabilitation in managing symptoms, improving function, and enhancing quality of life for individuals with these conditions.
