Introduction
In Modules 1 and 2, we discussed about the pathogenesis, clinical presentation, diagnosis, treatment and Rehabilitation of Rheumatoid arthritis and the Spondyloarthropathies. We had also briefly touched upon the immunological basis of such diseases, and the rationale of using drugs like csDMARDs and bDMARDs in such cases.

In Module 3, we shall do an in-depth discussion on Immunology, exploring its various components, cells and response to antigenic challenges, as well as the consequences of its diminished or excessive activity. This shall give us a sound basis to understand the pathophysiology of immune-mediated diseases better, and guide us towards a more rational drug prescription.

Key takeaways

  1. Recapitulation of the basics of our Immune System
  2. Understanding the immune response to various antigenic challenges
  3. Re-look at the Complement pathway
  4. Exploring the consequences of Immune deficiency & autoimmune-mediated diseases
  5. Learning the stages where the various DMARDs act upon the immune system to alter their response

FAQs

What is this webinar about?

This webinar will delve into the fundamental principles of immunology and explore their direct relevance to understanding and managing rheumatologic diseases like Rheumatoid Arthritis and Spondyloarthropathies.

Who is this webinar intended for? This webinar is primarily designed for rheumatologists, who are interested in gaining a deeper understanding of the immunological basis of rheumatologic conditions.

What will I learn by attending this webinar?

By attending this webinar, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of the immune system, its response to various challenges, the role of the complement pathway, the consequences of immune dysfunction (both deficiency and autoimmunity), and how commonly used medications (DMARDs) impact the immune system in the context of rheumatologic diseases.

Is this webinar suitable for beginners in immunology? While Modules 1 and 2 touched upon the basics, Module 3 will provide an in-depth discussion. Some prior understanding of basic biological concepts would be beneficial, but the session aims to provide a clear and comprehensive overview.

Will there be an opportunity for questions?

Yes, the attendees can ask questions live to the speaker and get their doubts clarified
